5 Reasons Why You Need To Visit The Buhais Geology Park

The long weekend in the UAE is just around the corner and people love to go out for a picnic on long weekends. But are you still one of those people who haven’t figured out where they want to go? Don’t worry we’ve got your back! The Buhais Geology Park in Sharjah is the perfect place for a picnic. It is a family-friendly and educational place, so your kids will enjoy it as well! So here are 5 reasons why you should visit the Buhais Geology Park:

Archaeological Site:

If old stones and rocks are something that excites you, you have come to the right place! Here you will be able to find many marine fossils that are as old are 65 million years! Also, you can enjoy the sight of ancient burial sites and mountain ranges way back from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages.

Geographically Site:

For you geography buff out there, this place is literally paradise for you! This place teaches about many basic phenomena that place on Earth, for example, sedimentation, plate tectonics, deep earth structures and geomorphology. All these processes are very well explained with the age-old rocks which are kept for everyone to look at!

Interior:

The interior is for sure one of the best things about this place. It is made up of 6 pods whose geometry is inspired by the fossilised urchins which are present on-site. The unconnected pod is used as a service building, the rest 5 are prefabricated concrete structures that lightly touch the ground. If looked at from above, the pods together look like an exoskeleton of the urchin fossils.

Family Friendly Picnic Spot:

This is an educational yet enjoyable place. Take your kids and family here and teach them all about geography and archaeology. After enjoying all the interior of this place, you can head to an interior café for refreshments which is some 100 metres above.

Away From The Chaos Of The City:

The location of the park is chosen very carefully, it lies approximately 30 miles (50 kilometres) southeast of Sharjah. This region is of great prehistoric and geological significance.
